Abstract:Ta diplomska naloga obravnava vpliv tako imenovanega „paradajz turizma“ na ekonomsko donosnost turistične destinacije. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljeni ključni koncepti nizkoproračunskega turizma, množičnega turizma, sezonskosti, ekonomskega puščanja (angl. Economic leakage) ter pojava dirke do dna (angl. Race to the bottom).
Keywords:„paradajz turizem“, nizkoproračunski turizem, turistična destinacija, množični turizem, sezonski turizem, turistična potrošnja.

Title:The impact of “tomato tourism” on the economic profitability of a tourism destination
Abstract:This diploma thesis deals with the impact of the so-called "tomato tourism" on the economic profitability of a tourist destination. "Tomato tourism" is considered in this work as a special form of low-budget tourism, which is characterized by a low level of tourist consumption, independent food provision, use of the cheapest forms of accommodation and limited integration into the local tourist offer. The purpose of the research is to analyze to what extent such a structure of tourists affects: the revenues of local companies, the multiplier factor of tourist consumption and the attitude of the local population towards such visitors. The theoretical part presents the key concepts of low-budget tourism, mass tourism, seasonality, economic leakage and the race to the bottom. The empirical part is based on a survey conducted among SMEs and local residents and tourism employees in selected tourist destinations in Greece. The results of the research, although varied, show that "tomato tourism" contributes to high physical occupancy of destinations, but has a limited positive impact on the local economy due to low consumption and low costs directly related to tomato tourism. Local populations and tourism workers often perceive infrastructure burdens and limited economic benefits, which affects their attitude towards such tourists. The thesis concludes by emphasizing the need to balance the quantity and quality of tourist demand and the development of sustainable strategies for tourist destinations.
Keywords:„tomato tourism, low tourist expenditure, tourism destination, mass tourism, seasonal tourism, tourist consumption.
