Abstract:V diplomskem delu je obravnavano družbeno vzdušje oziroma socialna klima v zaporskem okolju kot pomemben dejavnik delovanja zaporskih sistemov, kakovosti življenja zaprtih oseb in zaposlenih ter uspešnosti rehabilitacijskih procesov. V drugem delu diplomskega dela so predstavljene ugotovitve merjenja družbenega vzdušja v zaporih izbranih držav (Združeno kraljestvo, Združene države Amerike, Avstralija, Norveška, Nemčija, Srbija, Nizozemska in Slovenija).

Title:A review of studies of social climate in the prison enviroment
Abstract:The thesis examines social climate in the prison environment as an important factor in the functioning of prison systems, the quality of life of prisoners and employees, and the success of rehabilitation processes. Social climate is defined as a set of characteristics that shape everyday life in prison. The first part of the thesis presents the key concepts of social climate, its dimensions, and its importance for the safety and legitimacy in prisons. Various instruments used to measure social climate in prison environments are introduced, including the MQPL, EssenCES, PSCS, PCQ and CIES, along with their advantages and limitations. The second part of the thesis presents the findings of the social climate measurements in the prison systems of selected countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, Norway, Germany, Serbia, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. In general, the findings indicate that prisons which place greater emphasis on rehabilitation and prisoner participation tend to demonstrate a more positive social climate compared to prisons primarily focused on control and punishment. The comparative analysis highlighted significant differences between the examined countries, particularly in the fields of rehabilitation and the inclusion of prisoners. In most of the selected countries, studies on prison social climate are relatively rare. The findings of the thesis show that prison social climate is strongly influenced by the quality of relationships between prison staff and prisoners, perceptions of fairness, rehabilitation orientation and staffing conditions.
