Abstract:Uvod: Zdravstveni delavci v urgentnem centru (UC) delajo v dinamičnem okolju, kjer so pogosto izpostavljeni distrakcijskim dejavnikom (motnjam in prekinitvam delovnega toka), kar lahko vpliva na kakovost in varnost obravnave.

Title:The impact of distraction factors on the work of healthcare workers in the emergency centre
Abstract:Introduction: Healthcare professionals in emergency departments (EDs) work in a dynamic environment and are frequently exposed to distraction factors, which may affect the quality and safety of care. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the impact of distraction factors on the work of healthcare professionals in emergency departments through a systematic review of the scientific literature. Methods: A systematic review of the scientific literature was conducted using the ScienceDirect, PubMed, and CINAHL Ultimate databases for the period from 2015 to 2025. The search was performed using the PIO approach, applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study selection process was illustrated using a PRISMA flow diagram. The included studies were classified according to the hierarchy of evidence, and the results were presented using content analysis and an evaluation table. Results: A total of 10 studies were included in the final analysis. The most common distraction factors were direct communication between healthcare professionals, telephone calls and pagers, technical malfunctions, and environmental factors. These were associated with frequent workflow interruptions, increased workload and cognitive load, higher stress levels, and a greater risk of errors in patient care. Discussion and conclusion: Distraction factors significantly affect the work of healthcare professionals in emergency departments and may compromise patient safety. Measures to reduce non-urgent interruptions and improve work processes are needed.
