Abstract:Uvod: Avtoimunske bolezni nastanejo zaradi nepravilnega delovanja imunskega sistema, ki začne napadati lastna tkiva in organe. Razprava in zaključek: Upoštevanje brezglutenske diete izboljša prehransko stanje, rast in razvoj otrok s celiakijo, vendar dieta pogosto ni prehransko uravnotežena. Za uspešno obvladovanje bolezni je ključen celosten, interdisciplinaren pristop, ki vključuje strokovno prehransko svetovanje, podporo družini in redno spremljanje otrokovega napredka.

Title:The importance of nutritional management and the long-term effects of a gluten-free diet
Abstract:Introduction: Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues. Celiac disease is one such condition, triggered by gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. The purpose of the master’s thesis is to analyze the importance of nutritional management and the long-term effects of a gluten-free diet in children with celiac disease. Methods: In the study, we used a descriptive research method. We conducted a systematic literature review, searching international scientific databases including PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane. The selected studies were presented using a PRISMA flow diagram, critically appraised, and classified according to the hierarchy of evidence. The selected studies were analyzed, presented in an evaluation table, and finally synthesized. Results: The final analysis included 13 studies. We found that gluten-free diet effectively improves the growth, development, and clinical condition of children; however, it is often not nutritionally balanced and may lead to nutrient deficiencies. Discussion and conclusion: Adherence to a gluten-free diet improves the health and development of children with celiac disease, but the diet is often unbalanced. Effective management requires a holistic approach with nutritional counseling, family support, and regular follow-up.
