Abstract:V magistrski nalogi smo ugotavljali, ali imata košnja in paša značilen vpliv na razlike v floristični in funkcionalni sestavi travišč. Podatke smo analizirali z multivariatnimi analizami.

Title:A comparison of the effects of different agricultural land uses on the species and functional diversity of grassland vegetation
Abstract:In this master's thesis, we investigated whether different land uses have a significant effect on the floristic and functional composition of grasslands. We selected three grasslands belonging to the same farm in Ledinica near Žiri. The first grassland is managed exclusively by mowing, the second by grazing, and the third by a combination of both. On each selected site, we surveyed ten sample plots in the summer of 2024, recording not only species presence but also their cover. In total, we documented 82 plant species belonging to 25 families on 30 surveyed plots. Using different databases, we assigned morphological functional traits (MFT), Ellenberg indicator values and disturbance indices to the species, which enabled us to infer which abiotic factors are important for the observed patterns. We found that, in this area, different land-use types (mowing, grazing, combined use) do not have a significant effect on floristic diversity however, there are notable differences in site conditions, resulting from habitat and microhabitat heterogeneity. In addition, we conducted a census of the orchid population in the research area. We identified eight different species. In the case of the common spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata ssp. fuchsii), which is present here in the most abundant numbers, we conducted the census before and after flowering. Based on the floristic and functional composition, we classified the studied grasslands as a Natura 2000 habitat type with code 6510 and the designation "Lean lowland hay meadows (Alopecurus pratensis, Sanguisorba officinalis)” in a favorable state of conservation. With our master's thesis, we contributed new knowledge about the factors that influence the composition and structure of grassland plant communities. Such knowledge is particularly useful in planning the management of grassland areas with the aim of preserving or restoring habitat types that are important for nature conservation.
