Metode: Izvedli smo pregled literature v tujih podatkovnih bazah PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science in Google Scholar. Uporabili smo deskriptivni pristop in vsebinsko analizo podatkov.

Title:Performing chest compressions using the heel of the foot as an emergency solution
Abstract:Introduction: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a fundamental intervention in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, with its success largely dependent on the quality of chest compressions. In situations where the rescuer is unable to use their hands due to physical limitations or injuries, or when manual chest compressions become ineffective because of fatique, alternative options must be considered. One such alternative is the performance of chest compressions using the heel of the foot, which, under certain circumstances, allows the continuation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Methods: A literature review was conducted using the international databases PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. A descriptive approach and content analysis of the data were applied. Results: Out of a total of 667 studies reviewed, six studies were included in the final analysis. The studies showed that chest compressions performed with the heel of the foot can be comparable to manual chest compressions according to resuscitation guidelines, as they remain within all defined parameters of high-quality chest compressions, albeit at the lower threshold values. Discussion and conclusion: This study focused on whether chest compressions performed with the heel of the foot can be comparable to those performed using the hands. The key finding is that in emergency situations, standard manual chest compressions can be replaced with an alternative method, such as chest compressions performed with the heel of the foot.
