Abstract:	Tetovaže so danes razširjena oblika telesne ekspresije, ki presega le estetsko funkcijo. Sodobna družba po eni strani slavi individualnost, po drugi pa še vedno stremi tako k družbenim kot profesionalnim pričakovanjem. Kljub vse večji prisotnosti in simbolnemu pomenu tetovaž ostaja vprašanje, kako jih zaznava svet dela, predvsem prostor, kjer podoba na žalost pogosto govori prej kot kompetence. V ta namen smo analizirali, kako so tetovaže zaznane v profesionalnem okolju. To smo raziskali na dveh vzorcih: prvi vzorec so predstavljali tetovirani posamezniki v profesionalnem okolju, drugega pa delodajalci. Na ta način smo želeli razumeti, kako tetovaže vplivajo na profesionalnost, pripadnost v delovnem okolju ter možnosti zaposlitve in kariernega razvoja. Ugotovili smo, da postajajo tetovaže v delovnem okolju vse bolj sprejete kot izraz osebne identitete, čeprav so v nekaterih okoljih še vedno povezane z manjšo stopnjo profesionalnosti. Rezultati naše raziskave niso pomembni le za delodajalce, temveč tudi za posameznike, ki razmišljajo o tetovaži, saj jih opozarjajo na morebitne posledice. Na podlagi ugotovitev priporočamo večjo ozaveščenost delodajalcev glede pomena raznolikosti in manjši poudarek zunanjega videza pri presoji kompetentnosti kandidatov. Prav tako bi bilo smiselno spodbujati osebno svobodo izražanja in hkrati upoštevati pričakovanja v profesionalnem okolju.

Title:	Visible ink and invisible boundaries: when bodily expression collides with the stigma of professional norms
Abstract:	Tattoos are today a widespread form of bodily expression that goes beyond a purely aesthetic function. Contemporary society, on the one hand, celebrates individuality, while on the other hand it still adheres to social as well as professional expectations. Despite the growing presence and symbolic significance of tattoos, the question remains how they are perceived in the world of work, particularly in an environment where appearance unfortunately often speaks louder than competence. For this purpose, we analyzed how tattoos are perceived in a professional setting by examining two samples: the first consisted of tattooed individuals in professional environments, and the second of employers. In this way, we sought to understand how tattoos influence perceptions of professionalism, belonging in the workplace, and opportunities for employment and career development. We found that tattoos in the workplace are becoming increasingly accepted as an expression of personal identity, although in certain environments they are still associated with a lower level of professionalism. The results of our research are relevant not only for employers but also for individuals considering getting a tattoo, as they highlight possible consequences. Based on these findings, we recommend greater awareness among employers of the importance of diversity and a reduced emphasis on physical appearance when assessing candidates’ competence. It would also be advisable to encourage personal freedom of expression while at the same time taking into account expectations within the professional environment.
