Abstract:	Magistrsko delo proučuje izzive usklajevanja poklicnega in zasebnega življenja slovenskih politikov in političark, pri čemer poudarja specifične težave, povezane s kompleksnostjo politične kariere. Politično delo vključuje dolge delovne ure, visoko stopnjo javne izpostavljenosti, stalno dostopnost ter pogosto nepredvidljive urnike, kar otežuje ohranjanje jasne meje med delom in zasebnim življenjem. Namen magistrskega dela je preučiti, s katerimi specifičnimi težavami se srečujejo slovenski politiki in političarke pri usklajevanju svojih profesionalnih obveznosti z zasebnim življenjem ter katere mehanizme uporabljajo za njihovo obvladovanje. Rezultati raziskave, izvedene s kvalitativno metodo, natančneje s polstrukturiranimi intervjuji, so pokazali, da usklajevanje poklicnega in zasebnega življenja predstavlja enega ključnih izzivov političnega poklica. Predstavlja zahteven proces, zaznamovan z izrazitim prepletanjem delovne in zasebne sfere, dolgimi in intenzivnimi delovnimi urniki, stalno dosegljivostjo ter visoko stopnjo odgovornosti, kar vpliva tudi na njihovo blaginjo. Posebej so izpostavljene spolne neenakosti, ki še vedno pomembno vplivajo na izkušnje žensk v politiki. Političarke se pogosteje soočajo z neenakomerno razporeditvijo družinskih in skrbstvenih obveznosti, večjimi obremenitvami, diskriminacijo in pričakovanji glede družinskih vlog v političnem okolju. Kot pomembni varovalni dejavniki se izpostavljajo podpora partnerja, družine in širšega socialnega okolja, odprta komunikacija ter medsebojno razumevanje. Prav tako imajo pomembno vlogo tudi učinkovito upravljanje časa, jasno postavljanje meja, skrb za lastno blaginjo ter umik iz delovnega okolja. Poudarjajo se tudi fleksibilnejše delovne prakse, sistemske spremembe ter organizacijske prilagoditve, ki bi omogočale lažje usklajevanje poklicnih in zasebnih obveznosti.

Title:	Balancing the professional and private lives of Slovenian politicians
Abstract:	This master's thesis examines the challenges of balancing professional and private life among Slovenian politicians, with a particular emphasis on the specific difficulties associated with the complexity of a political career. Political work involves long working hours, a high level of public exposure, constant availability, and often unpredictable schedules, which makes it difficult to maintain a clear boundary between work and private life. The aim of the master's thesis is to explore the specific difficulties faced by Slovenian politicians in balancing their professional obligations with their private lives and to identify the mechanisms they use to manage them. The results of the research, conducted using a qualitative method, more precisely semi-structured interviews, showed that balancing professional and private life represents one of the key challenges of the political profession. It is a demanding process characterized by a pronounced intertwining of work and private spheres, long and intensive working hours, constant availability, and a high level of responsibility, all of which also affect their well-being. Gender inequalities are particularly highlighted, as they continue to significantly shape the experiences of women in politics. Female politicians more frequently face an unequal distribution of family and caregiving responsibilities, greater burdens, discrimination, and expectations regarding family roles within the political environment. Support from partners, family, and the wider social environment, open communication, and mutual understanding are identified as important protective factors. Effective time management, clear boundary-setting, self-care, and withdrawal from the work environment also play an important role. More flexible working practices, systemic changes, and organizational adjustments that would enable easier reconciliation of professional and private obligations are also emphasized.
