Abstract:V diplomskem delu obravnavamo vpliv poškodb možganov na pojav agresivnega in nasilnega vedenja ter raziskujemo povezavo med nevrobiološkimi dejavniki in kriminalnim delovanjem posameznika. Celostno razumevanje agresije zato zahteva povezovanje nevrobioloških spoznanj s psihološkimi in družbenimi vplivi ter poudarja pomen etičnega in odgovornega vključevanja nevroznanstvenih ugotovitev v pravni in družbeni prostor.

Title:Influence of the injury of the brain on aggressive behavior occurrence
Abstract:In this thesis, we discuss the impact of brain injuries on the occurrence of aggressive and violent behavior and explore the relationship between neurobiological factors and the criminal activity of an individual. In the theoretical part, aggression is presented as a complex psychological and social phenomenon that cannot be understood from just one point of view. It is a combination of biological, psychological and environmental factors that contribute to the occurrence of aggressive behavior. Special emphasis of the thesis is given to the neurocriminological view, which combines the findings of neuroscience and criminology. The role of brain structures, especially the prefrontal cortex and limbic system, in the regulation of emotions, impulses, and social behavior is presented. Research shows that injuries or functional disorders in these areas are often associated with reduced self-control, impulsivity, and a higher likelihood of aggressive behavioral responses. Hormonal and neurochemical factors also play an important role. The thesis also presents examples of individuals with documented brain injuries, in which pronounced behavioral changes later appeared, further indicating a link between neurological changes and behavior. Part of the thesis is also an in-depth professional conversation with a forensic neuroscience expert, who confirms that behavioral changes after brain injuries can be significant, but they are not uniform and are strongly dependent on the individual's personality traits, social environment, and rehabilitation opportunities. The findings of the thesis indicate that biological factors cannot be considered a direct cause of criminal behavior, but rather as one of the important risk factors in the broader context of an individual's life. A comprehensive understanding of aggression therefore requires linking neurobiological insights with psychological and social influences and emphasizes the importance of ethical and responsible integration of neuroscientific findings into the legal and social sphere.
