Abstract:V postmodernem kontekstu se tradicionalna vloga moškega v družini postopno spreminja. Čeprav očetje večinoma izražajo podporo enakopravni delitvi gospodinjskih in skrbstvenih nalog, popolna enakost v praksi še ni dosežena, saj rutinska gospodinjska opravila še vedno pogosteje opravljajo ženske.

Title:Men's perspectives on the division of family roles
Abstract:In the postmodern context, the traditional role of men within the family is gradually changing. The image of a man who emphasizes cooperation, emotional presence, and a more equal division of household and caregiving responsibilities is coming to the front. Gender roles remain a social construct, shaped through the process of socialization and closely linked to the upbringing environment. Patterns of behaviour and understandings of family roles acquired in the family of orientation are often transferred to the family of procreation. The aim of this master's thesis was to examine the actual family and partner roles of men, specifically fathers, in Slovenian families of procreation, their attitudes toward the division of family roles, and the perceived social pressures associated with the male role in the family. Special attention was given to differences based on the environment of upbringing. Two key indicators were considered: the level of traditionality in the family of orientation and the degree of urbanization of the upbringing environment, as both factors significantly shape the process of socialization and the formation of perspectives on family roles. The research was based on a quantitative approach and was conducted by an online survey questionnaire on a sample of 200 Slovenian fathers from different backgrounds. The results indicate that contemporary Slovenian families reflect a combination of egalitarian values and elements of traditional gender role division. Although fathers generally express support for an equal distribution of household and caregiving responsibilities, full equality in practice has not yet been achieved, as routine household tasks are still more frequently performed by women. Different forms of work, especially additional employment and farm work, also play an important role in fathers' involvement in family life. Furthermore, the findings show that the level of traditionality in the family of orientation, as well as the father's role model within it, significantly shape practices and attitudes in the family of procreation, while no significant association was found with the level of urbanization of the upbringing environment.
