V ospredju sta zavarovalna gostota in zavarovalna penetracija. Zajete so skupine držav Evropske unije, OECD, BRICS, ASEAN in določene afriške države.

Title:The impact of the insurance sector on economic activity
Abstract:The thesis examines the impact of the insurance sector on economic activity and explains the functions, types of insurance products, and the indicators used in analysing the insurance sector. The analysis focuses on insurance density and insurance penetration. Particular emphasis is placed on examining the differences in the insurance sector's impact across groups of countries, which is presented through hypotheses based on the Granger causality test. The study covers the European Union, OECD, BRICS and ASEAN country groups, as well as selected African countries. In addition, differences between developed and developing country groups and between life and non-life insurance are analysed. The findings indicate that, in most of the cases considered, the insurance sector is positively associated with economic activity; however, the impact is not uniform across all countries analysed. In developing countries, the impact is generally more pronounced, whereas in developed countries market saturation and a more complementary role of insurance alongside an already developed financial sector are more often observed. It was also found that non-life insurance has a stronger impact than life insurance; non-life insurance growth is more stable and consistent, while life insurance exhibits greater fluctuations over the observed years.
