Abstract:Perfekcionizem in prokrastinacija že dalj časa predstavljata pomemben predmet raziskovanja na področju psihologije, vendar so ugotovitve o njuni medsebojni povezanosti, kljub številnim študijam, ostale neenotne.

Title:The relationship between emotion regulation, perfectionism, and procrastination
Abstract:Perfectionism and procrastination have long been central topics in psychological research, however, despite numerous studies the findings on the matter remain inconsistent. The present study aimed to explore the association between maladaptive and adaptive perfectionism and procrastination, as well as to test whether emotion regulation acts as a moderator in the relationship between each type of perfectionism and procrastination. A total of 225 participants, namely 153 women and 69 men aged between 15 and 78 years took part in the study. Correlational analyses revealed that maladaptive perfectionism was positively associated with procrastination, whereas adaptive perfectionism was negatively associated with procrastination. Both relationships were statistically significant. Additionally, difficulties in emotion regulation were positively related to procrastination. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to examine the potential moderating role of emotion regulation. The results indicated that emotion regulation did not significantly moderate the relationship between perfectionism and procrastination for either maladaptive or adaptive perfectionism. Nevertheless, both types of perfectionism, as well as emotion regulation proved to be significant independent predictors of general procrastination. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the interplay between perfectionism, emotion regulation, and procrastination, and provide a foundation for future research in this area.
