Abstract:Gibalna pismenost predstavlja pomemben dejavnik celostnega razvoja otrok, saj vpliva na telesno, kognitivno, čustveno in socialno področje. Redna in ustrezno načrtovana gibalna dejavnost prispeva k izboljšanju telesne pripravljenosti, razvoju motoričnih sposobnosti in oblikovanju pozitivnega odnosa do gibanja.

Title:Physical literacy of primary school children
Abstract:Physical literacy is an important factor in children's holistic development, as it influences physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. During childhood, especially in the primary school period, children are particularly receptive to developing movement skills, which form the foundation for later participation in physical activity. Regular and appropriately planned physical activity contributes to improved physical fitness, the development of motor abilities, and the formation of a positive attitude towards movement. Physical literacy includes not only physical capabilities but also motivation, self-confidence, knowledge, and understanding, enabling individuals to engage in physical activities actively and responsibly throughout life. The aim of this thesis was to examine the physical literacy of primary school children and to determine whether statistically significant differences exist between boys and girls in the domains of motivation and self-confidence, as well as in knowledge and understanding of physical activity. The research was based on a quantitative empirical approach, involving 100 fifth-grade students from two primary schools. Data were collected using the questionnaire component of the CAPL-2 instrument and were statistically analyzed. The results were presented and interpreted separately for individual components within the domains of motivation and self-confidence and knowledge and understanding, providing insight into potential gender differences.
