Abstract:Z namenom proučiti vpliv različnih koncentracij goveje gnojevke na kalitev ter začetno rast mnogocvetne ljuljke (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) in pasje trave (Dactylis glomerata L.) je bil leta 2018 izveden laboratorijski poskus na Fakulteti za kmetijstvo in biosistemske vede.

Title:Impact of adding cattle slurry at seed germination on the lenght of roots and above ground grass parts
Abstract:To investigate the effects of different concentrations of cattle slurry on the germination and early growth of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) and orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.), a laboratory experiment was conducted in 2018 at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The experiment was carried out in a germination chamber. Seeds of both species were exposed to three concentrations of cattle slurry (25%, 50%, and 100%) for 14 days and compared with two control treatments (dry seeds and seeds soaked in water) under controlled laboratory conditions. The results indicated that the cattle slurry concentration significantly affected the root system development, while no significant effect was observed on the aboveground plant parts. Lower concentrations (25% and 50%) did not stimulate growth, whereas the highest concentration (100%) did not inhibit development, it even increased relative root length in Italian ryegrass. Clear interspecific differences in root morphology were observed: Italian ryegrass developed a greater number of shorter roots and a longer total root system, whereas orchardgrass developed fewer but longer individual roots. The findings indicate that the effect of cattle slurry on the early growth of grasses is not uniform, but depends on the plant species and the specific growth parameter, with a stronger influence on belowground than aboveground plant development.
