Rezultati regresijskih in mediacijskih analiz so pokazali, da čustvene zahteve pomembno napovedujejo višjo ruminacijo in slabši miselni odklop, medtem ko povezave s kakovostjo spanja in izkušnjo sprostitve niso bile statistično značilne.

Title:The relationship between emotional job demands and post-work recovery among mental health professionals
Abstract:The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between emotional demands, recovery from work, and compassion fatigue among mental health professionals in Slovenia. In particular, we investigated the mediating role of rumination in the relationship between emotional demands and different aspects of recovery from work (sleep quality, psychological detachment, and relaxation experience), as well as the mediating role of these recovery aspects in the relationship between emotional demands and compassion fatigue. Data were collected using a general online questionnaire and short daily questionnaires completed by participants over ten consecutive working days, with the data aggregated at the individual level. The results of the regression and mediation analyses showed that emotional demands significantly predicted higher levels of rumination and poorer psychological detachment, whereas the associations with sleep quality and relaxation experience were not statistically significant. Rumination emerged as an important mechanism through which emotional demands primarily predicted psychological detachment. Furthermore, psychological detachment significantly predicted lower levels of compassion fatigue and mediated the relationship between emotional demands and compassion fatigue, while mediation effects for the other aspects of recovery were not confirmed. The findings highlight the importance of psychological detachment as a key protective factor against compassion fatigue and indicate the need for strategies aimed at reducing rumination among mental health professionals in order to mitigate the consequences of high emotional demands and support adequate recovery.
