Abstract:Uvod: Varnost pacientov je temelj kakovostne zdravstvene obravnave, vključuje preprečevanje napak ter zmanjševanje tveganj in škode, povezane z zdravstveno obravnavo.

Title:Knowledge, attitude and practice of nursing staff regarding patient safety
Abstract:Introduction: Patient safety is the foundation of high‑quality health care. It involves preventing errors and reducing risks and harm associated with health care delivery. Despite efforts to improve safety, incidents still occur. The purpose of the thesis was to examine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to patient safety among nursing staff working at the primary level of health care. Methods: We used a cross-sectional observational design and collected data via a survey using a standardized questionnaire, which included demographic questions as well as sections on knowledge, practice, and attitudes toward patient safety. The data were analysed in IBM SPSS and descriptive statistics. Results: 132 participants took part in the study. The knowledge score was 8.07 (SD = 1.37) out of 11 points, indicating a relatively high level of knowledge. Attitudes toward patient safety were assessed on a 5‑point Likert scale (M = 3.89; SD = 0.62), indicating a positive attitude among participants. In the practice domain, participants achieved a mean of 6.30 (SD = 1.57) out of 8 points, with the most frequent score being 7, indicating a very well-rated level of practice. Discussion and conclusion: The study showed a generally good level of patient safety, although certain shortcomings were also identified. Further improvements, such as education and strengthening the culture of safety, are important for enhancing the quality and safety of healthcare delivery.
