Abstract:Uvod: Deinstitucionalizacija je definirana kot prehod oseb z motnjami v duševnem razvoju iz velikih institucij v skupnostne oblike bivanja. Institucionalno okolje pogosto omejuje njihovo avtonomijo zaradi depersonalizacije in rigidnih strokovnih praks. Proces deinstitucionalizacije spodbuja samoodločanje, večjo vključenost ter aktivno sodelovanje posameznikov v vsakdanjem življenju in skupnosti. Metode: Izvedli smo pregled literature v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost), MEDLINE (EBSCOhost), PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science in Wiley Online Library. Raziskave, vključene v analizo, so bile kritično ocenjene z orodjem JBI, podatki pa analizirani s pomočjo tematske analize. Postopek izbora raziskav je prikazan z diagramom PRISMA. Rezultati: V rezultate smo vključili sedem raziskav različnega tipa. Vključili smo tri sistematične preglede, tri kvaziekperimentalne raziskave in eno kvalitativno raziskavo. Deinstitucionalizacija izboljšuje samostojnost, avtonomijo in blagostanje oseb z motnjo v duševnem razvoju. Veliko vlogo imata predvsem kakovost podpore in dostop do storitev. Kljub pozitivnim učinkom pa se pojavljajo tveganja, kot so ranljivost, osamljenost in neenotni dolgoročni izidi. Razprava in zaključek: Proces deinstitucionalizacije izboljšuje kakovost življenja, poveča samostojnost in vključenost oseb z motnjo v duševnem razvoju. Uspešnost tega procesa temelji na individualizirani podpori, dostopnih storitvah in sodelovanju vključenih. Kljub temu so potrebne nadaljnje, predvsem longitudinalne raziskave o dolgoročnih učinkih, vlogi osebja in učinkovitosti modelov podpore.

Title:The impact of deinstitutionalization on the quality of life of people with mental disabilities
Abstract:Introduction: Deinstitutionalization is defined as the transition of individuals with mental disabilities from institutions to community-based living environments. The institutional environment often limits autonomy due to depersonalization and rigid practices. The process promotes self-determination, greater inclusion, and active participation in daily life and the community. Methods: We conducted a literature review in the databases CINAHL Ultimate (EBSCOhost), MEDLINE (EBSCOhost), PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Wiley Online Library. The studies included in the analysis were critically appraised using the JBI tool, and the data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The study selection process is illustrated using the PRISMA diagram. Results: A total of seven studies of varying designs were included: three systematic reviews, three quasi-experimental studies, and one qualitative study. Findings indicate that deinstitutionalization improves independence, autonomy, and well-being among individuals with mental disabilities. The quality of support and access to services are crucial, although risks such as vulnerability, loneliness, and inconsistent long-term outcomes remain. Discussion and Conclusion: The process of deinstitutionalization improves quality of life, increases independence, and enhances the inclusion of individuals with mental disabilities. Its success is based on individualized support, accessible services, and collaboration. Nevertheless, further research, particularly longitudinal studies, is needed to examine long-term outcomes and the effectiveness of support models.
