Title:Endurance of 5-6 year old preschool children
Abstract:The purpose of this thesis was to investigate endurance in preschool children aged five and six years and to examine the role of nutritional status (BMI) in the endurance of five- and six-year-old children based on the empirical results of the endurance test, as well as whether endurance differs between sexes at this age. The theoretical part presented physical development during the preschool period, endurance during the preschool period, and previous research and findings in this field. The empirical study included a non-random sample of five- to six-year-old children (12 boys and 7 girls) at the kindergarten in Radenci − Radenski mehurčki. A quantitative method was used for data collection− the Cooper test (6 minutes) to assess endurance, and BMI percentiles to assess nutritional status. The t-test for independent samples and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. The results showed a statistically significant difference in endurance between the sexes (p < 0,05) and a statistically significant, moderately strong negative correlation between body mass index and endurance (r = -0,692, p < 0,05).
