Podatki so bili zbrani z anketnim vprašalnikom z vzorcem 190 poklicnih gasilcev v Republiki Sloveniji. Rezultati so bili analizirani z deskriptivno statistiko.

Title:The effectiveness of a standardized approach among professional firefighters for the assessment and care of injured persons
Abstract:Introduction: Professional firefighters are often among the first responders at the scene of an accident; therefore, their knowledge of the standardized approach (ABCDE) is very important for the rapid recognition of life-threatening conditions and the initial care of injured persons. Methods: A quantitative descriptive research method was used. Data were collected using a questionnaire on a sample of 190 professional firefighters in the Republic of Slovenia. The results were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: The respondents demonstrated the best knowledge in recognizing massive bleeding, using the AVPU scale and ensuring a patent airway in cases of suspected cervical spine injury. Deficiencies were identified in the understanding of the correct sequence of procedures, reassessment of the patient and phase E – exposure of the standardized approach (ABCDE). Discussion and conclusion: We found that the knowledge of Slovenian professional firefighters about the standardized approach (ABCDE) is uneven. The results indicate the need for additional education, practical training and interprofessional cooperation with emergency medical teams.
