Title:The role of handball in developing basic motor skills in third grade elementary school students
Abstract:The purpose of this master's thesis is to determine whether a planned handball training program affects the development of basic motor skills in third-grade students. The study sample consisted of 15 students (8 boys and 7 girls), who formed the experimental group. The study utilized descriptive statistics and the t-test for paired samples from the SPSS statistical software. The study found that, following the planned training, the students improved their execution of handball skills, which consequently had a positive impact on the development of basic motor skills and enhanced their theoretical knowledge of handball. Statistically significant differences in the results were observed in basic handball skills, specifically in short- and long-distance elbow passes, short- and long-distance ball catches, and shooting accuracy. Furthermore, the students' theoretical knowledge of handball also improved in a statistically significant manner following the implementation of the planned training. The main findings of the study indicate that the planned training of basic handball skills and learning the rules of handball had a positive impact on the development of basic motor skills and improved the knowledge of third-grade elementary school students.
