Abstract:Uvod: Prometna varnost starejših voznikov predstavlja pomemben javnozdravstveni problem zaradi staranja prebivalstva in večjega deleža starejših udeležencev v prometu. Na prometno varnost vplivajo predvsem starostne spremembe, kronične bolezni ter zmanjšane kognitivne in telesne sposobnosti. Metode: V zaključnem delu smo izvedli pregled znanstvene literature s področja prometne varnosti starejših voznikov in preventivnih programov. Literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah PubMed, ScienceDirect in CINAHL Ultimate. Naredili smo evalvacijsko tabelo z značilnostmi raziskav ter izvedli metodo vsebinske analize. Rezultati: V analizo smo od dvajsetih raziskav vključili sedem raziskav in ugotovili, da na prometno varnost starejših voznikov vplivajo predvsem kognitivne in telesne sposobnosti, psihološki dejavniki, zdravstveno stanje ter samoregulacija vožnje. Pri vsebinski analizi smo oblikovali naslednje podkategorije: (1) kognitivne sposobnosti, (2) telesne spremembe, (3) psihološki dejavniki, (4) tveganje in prometna varnost (5) ocena vozniške sposobnosti, (6) preventivni ukrepi.

Title:Older driver`s traffic safety
Abstract:Introduction: Traffic safety among older drivers represents an important public health issue due to population aging and the increasing proportion of older road users. Traffic safety is mainly influenced by age-related changes, chronic diseases, and reduced cognitive and physical abilities. Methods: In the final thesis, we conducted a review of scientific literature in the field of traffic safety among older drivers and preventive programs. Literature was searched in the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL Ultimate databases. An evaluation table with research characteristics was created, and a content analysis method was performed. Results: Out of twenty studies, seven studies were included in the analysis, and the findings showed that traffic safety among older drivers is mainly influenced by cognitive and physical abilities, psychological factors, health condition, and self-regulation of driving. In the content analysis, the following subcategories were identified: (1) cognitive abilities, (2) physical changes, (3) psychological factors, (4) risk and traffic safety, (5) assessment of driving ability, and (6) preventive measures. Studies have shown that preventive programs, educational interventions, cognitive training, and preventive examinations positively affect driving abilities and may reduce the risk of traffic accidents. Discussion and conclusion: Traffic safety among older drivers requires a comprehensive approach that includes health assessment, preventive programs, and support for older drivers. Further research is needed for the development of standardized methods for assessing driving ability.
