Abstract:
Diplomsko delo obravnava varnostne funkcionalnosti, ki jih imajo sodobni operacijski sistemi, in ponuja priporočila za pravilno uporabo teh sistemov. Namen dela je sistematično analizirati glavne varnostne mehanizme v operacijskih sistemih Windows 11 in Linux Ubuntu ter oceniti njihovo uporabnost v kontekstu vsakodnevne rabe. S pomočjo namensko razvitega anketnega vprašalnika smo preverili, v kolikšni meri uporabniki posameznega operacijskega sistema poznajo in uporabljajo posamezne varnostne funkcionalnosti. Na podlagi rezultatov ankete smo nato pripravili priporočila za končnega uporabnika.

Title:
A systematic review of security functionalities in desktop operating systems with recommendations for the end user
Abstract:
The thesis examines the security functionalities available in modern operating systems and provides recommendations for their effective use. The aim is to systematically analyse the main security mechanisms in the Windows and Ubuntu Linux operating systems and to assess their usability in the context of everyday use. Using a specially designed survey questionnaire, we investigated the extent to which users of each operating system are aware of and utilise these security functionalities. Based on the survey findings, we developed a set of recommendations for end users.
