Title:The importance of early resuscitation of children in the prehospital setting
Abstract:Introduction: A critically ill or injured child is a major challenge for healthcare professionals. Pediatric resuscitation is rare but extremely stressful event that requires staff to act quickly and effectively and to possess a high level of expertise. Because the survival rate for children in cardiac arrest outside the hospital is lower than in a hospital setting, early recognition and early resuscitation are crucial in the chain of survival. Methods: This work is based on a literature review. We reviewed and analyzed scientific articles in five international databases. A descriptive research method was used and we classified the results and assessed the strength of the evidence using the PRISMA flowchart and the hierarchy of evidence. Results: Using a predefined search string, we obtained a total of 354 hits. After excluding irrelevant studies using the PRISMA flowchart, 7 studies were included in the final analysis. Discussion and conclusion: In writing, we focused on the importance of early resuscitation of children in the prehospital setting and its effectiveness in survival. We found that early resuscitation in children is crucial for survival. The performance of early resuscitation can influence favorable neurological outcomes and a higher survival rate in the pediatric population.
