Pacienti, ki so bili deležni podpore mobilnih paliativnih timov, so pogosteje preživeli zadnje obdobje življenja v domačem okolju in poročali o boljši kakovosti življenja.

Title:The benefits of involving mobile palliative care teams in the care of cancer patients at home
Abstract:Population ageing and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases in Europe have led to a growing need for palliative care, particularly among patients with cancer. As cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in Slovenia, the provision of timely and high-quality palliative care is essential for improving the quality of life of patients and their families. This thesis was based on a systematic literature review conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines, including seven review articles retrieved from the PubMed, CINAHL, and SAGE databases. The analysis demonstrated that mobile palliative care teams significantly contribute to the effective management of cancer patients in the home environment. Their involvement reduces the number of hospital admissions, promotes a more efficient use of healthcare resources, and improves symptom management. Patients receiving support from mobile palliative care teams were more likely to spend the final stage of their lives at home and reported a higher quality of life. The effectiveness of mobile palliative care teams largely depends on interdisciplinary collaboration, adequate training of healthcare professionals, and the accessibility of services. Further development and strengthening of these factors could substantially improve the palliative care system in Slovenia and provide more comprehensive support for patients and their families.
