Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava implementacijo digitalnih dvojčkov v malih in srednje velikih podjetjih z uporabo low-code orodij.

Title:Implementation of digital twins in small and medium-sized enterprises: development of a methodology using low-code tools
Abstract:The master's thesis addresses the implementation of digital twins in small and medium-sized enterprises using low-code tools. While the digital twin has become an established technology in large industrial environments over the past two decades, its adoption in small and medium-sized enterprises lags behind due to predominantly non-technical barriers - lack of specialised personnel, limited financial resources, and the absence of accessible methodologies. The aim of the thesis is to develop a phased methodology that offers small and medium-sized enterprises a feasible path to a digital twin, without large upfront investments and without the need for an in-house development team. The methodology is built around five low-code tools, each covering a phase of the digital twin lifecycle: Miro for process modelling, Node-RED for data acquisition, Grafana for KPI visualisation, Jupyter Notebook for scenario simulation, and Streamlit for decision support. The proposed methodology distinguishes between an operational digital twin (after three phases) and a predictive digital twin (after five phases), allowing an enterprise to conclude the path at a level matching its digital maturity according to the IMPULS framework. The thesis adopts a qualitative-theoretical approach and verifies hypotheses through synthesis of secondary literature. The main contribution lies in bridging the methodological gap that has been consistently identified - but not closed - in contemporary discussions of the digital twin in small and medium-sized enterprises.
