V empiričnem delu so analizirani teroristični napadi v Parizu leta 2015, in Nici leta 2016 (Francija), ter v Madridu leta 2004, in Barceloni leta 2017 (Španija). Magistrsko delo izpostavlja pomen sodelovanja med varnostnimi organi in turističnim sektorjem pri zagotavljanju stabilnosti in varnosti turističnega okolja.

Title:Vpliv terorističnih akcij na turizem, primerjava Francije in Španije
Abstract:This master’s thesis examines the impact of terrorist attacks on tourism, based on a comparative analysis of France and Spain, both of which are major tourist destinations. The theoretical section presents the basic characteristics of terrorism, such as its definition, causes, forms, and the motivations behind terrorist attacks. These also have a negative impact on the tourism industry, which relies heavily on tourists’ confidence in the safety and stability of destinations. The empirical section analyzes the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015 and Nice in 2016 (France), as well as in Madrid in 2004 and Barcelona in 2017 (Spain). The analyzed statistical data on the number of hotel guests reveal differences in the degree of impact of individual terrorist attacks. The analysis showed that Paris was the hardest hit after the attack, as a one-year decline in the number of hotel guests was observed. In Barcelona, a nine-month decline was observed, while in Nice and Madrid, there was a one-month and three-month decline, respectively, in hotel guest arrivals. The most noticeable impact on tourism was observed immediately after the attacks, when there was heightened uncertainty. Security measures and government responses in the selected countries were also examined, and it was found that both countries opted to implement stricter security checks, an increased presence of security forces, and additional legislative measures. In addition to the measures implemented, according to the interviewed expert on tourism security, tourists’ perception of safety depends on when they return to the destination. The master’s thesis highlights the importance of cooperation between security agencies and the tourism sector in ensuring the stability and safety of the tourism environment.
