Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je narediti empirično analizo vpliva digitalizacije in produktivnosti na gospodarsko rast.

Title:Empirical analysis of the impact of digitalization and productivity on economic growth
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis is to conduct an empirical analysis of the impact of digitalization and productivity on economic growth. In the thesis, we first theoretically defined digitalization, productivity and economic growth and presented the connection between them. This was followed by an analysis of economic growth trends in the European Union over the past twenty years and an analysis of trends in digitalization and productivity in the European Union member states in recent years. We continued with a review of existing empirical analyses in our research field. In the empirical part of the thesis, we conducted an econometric analysis of the impact of digitalization and productivity on economic growth using the least squares method. We selected real GDP growth per capita as the dependent variable and the explanatory variables were the use of artificial intelligence, the use of cloud computing services, the share of individuals with basic or above-standard general digital skills, the share of companies with a website, the share of employed ICT experts, real labour productivity per person and the growth of real labour productivity per person. We used data from the European Union Member States for year 2021 and year 2023 for the analysis. We also checked the validity of the least squares assumptions. We found that the use of artificial intelligence, the use of cloud computing, the use of websites, and the interaction term between digital skills and productivity have a positive impact on economic growth. However, this impact is statistically insignificant for the use of artificial intelligence in the model for year 2021 and for both years for the use of websites. However, the employment of ICT experts showed a negative and statistically insignificant impact on economic growth.
Keywords:Digitalization, productivity, economic growth, European Union countries, empirical analysis, least squares method.
