Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava psihološko pripravo ultrakolesarja in vodenje podporne ekipe v ekstremnih tekmovalnih razmerah.

Title:Psychological preparation of an ultracyclist and the management of a support team in extreme competitive conditions
Abstract:This diploma thesis examines the psychological preparation of an ultracyclist and the management of a support team in extreme competitive conditions. Extreme endurance sports represent a specific field in which athletes are exposed to prolonged physical and psychological demands, such as sleep deprivation, pain, stress, and unpredictable conditions. The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse the key psychological factors influencing an athlete's performance and to define the role of the coach and the support team in the preparation for and execution of competition. The theoretical part presents the fundamental concepts of extreme endurance sports, the psychological demands of competition, and methods of psychological preparation. Particular emphasis is placed on the effects of sleep deprivation on performance, cognitive functioning, and emotional stability. Furthermore, the role of the support team and the importance of effective leadership in extreme conditions are examined. Based on the literature review, guidelines are proposed for the psychological preparation of the athlete, the organisation of the support team, and leadership in extreme conditions. The diploma thesis integrates theoretical foundations with practical aspects and provides a useful foundation for coaches and athletes involved in ultra-endurance sports.
