Abstract:	Namen diplomskega dela je bil ugotoviti, kakšne so obstoječe miselne predstave otrok, starih od 4 do 5 let, o zvoku kot naravoslovnem pojavu ter preveriti, kako usmerjena eksperimentalna dejavnost vpliva na spremembo teh predstav. Raziskava je bila izvedena v skupini 15 otrok iz Vrtca Mavrica Vojnik. Pred in po usmerjeni dejavnosti je bil z vsakim otrokom izvedli polstrukturirani intervju o predstavah o zvoku. Ugotovili so, da je pred aktivnostjo imel le en del otrok ustrezne predstave o besedi zvok in sprejemanju zvoka, velika večina otrok je imela ustrezne predstave tudi o širjenju zvoka do poslušalcev, najbolj pomanjkljive pa so bile njihove vizualne predstave o širjenju zvoka v zraku. Po usmerjeni dejavnosti so se predstave otrok o besedi zvok, sprejemanju zvoka in njegovi vizualni podobi pri širjenju skozi zrak izboljšale. V manjši meri se je izboljšalo tudi razumevanje nastajanja zvoka. Menimo, da je na spremembo rezultatov vplivala skrbno načrtovana usmerjena eksperimentalna dejavnost. Ta je vključevala naravoslovne eksperimente za boljše razumevanje pojma zvoka. Ugotovili so, da je takšen način dela otroke motiviral. Motivacijo in napredek v razumevanju zvoka so pripisali dejavnostim, ki so omogočile aktivno vključenost otrok, vizualnim učinkom eksperimentov o zvoku ter neposrednemu izkustvenemu učenju neposrednim izkušnjam pridobljenih z uporabo različnih čutil.

Title:	The impact of experimental activities on a child's understanding of sound in the preschool period
Abstract:	The purpose of this thesis was to determine the existing conceptual understandings of children aged 4 to 5 regarding sound as a natural phenomenon and to examine how a guided experimental activity influences changes in these understandings. The study was conducted with a group of 15 children from the Vrtec Mavrica Vojnik. Before and after the guided activity, a semi-structured interview was conducted with each child regarding their conceptions of sound. It was found that before the activity, only a portion of the children had accurate conceptions of the word “sound” and the perception of sound; the vast majority of children also had accurate conceptions regarding the propagation of sound to listeners, but their visual conceptions of sound propagation through the air were the most deficient. After the guided activity, the children's conceptions of the word "sound", the reception of sound, and its visual representation as it propagates through the air improved. To a lesser extent, their understanding of how sound is produced also improved. We believe that the change in results was influenced by a carefully planned, guided experimental activity. This activity included science experiments designed to foster a better understanding of the concept of sound. It was found that this approach motivated the children. Motivation and progress in understanding sound were attributed to activities that allowed for the children’s active participation, the visual effects of the sound experiments, and direct experiential learning through experiences gained by using various senses.
