V diplomskem delu smo želeli določiti koncentracijo AOX v odpadni vodi hematološkega analizatorja ter raziskati učinkovitost njihovega odstranjevanja z granuliranim in praškastim aktivnim ogljem.

Title:Efficiency of adsorption of organic contaminants from hematology analyzer wastewater
Abstract:Wastewater generated in healthcare facilities contains various organic contaminants that may pose a risk to the environment if not properly treated. Among the most significant groups are adsorbable organically bound halogens (AOX), which require efficient removal prior to wastewater discharge due to their persistence and potential toxicity. Adsorption onto activated carbon is one of the most commonly used methods for the removal of organic contaminants from wastewater. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to determine the concentration of AOX in wastewater from a hematology analyzer and to investigate the efficiency of their removal using granular and powdered activated carbon. AOX concentrations were determined using the NANOCOLOR AOX 3 rapid photometric test. Several adsorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the influence of the type of activated carbon, adsorbent dosage and contact time on the efficiency of AOX removal. Based on the obtained results, it was concluded that adsorption onto activated carbon is an effective method for the removal of AOX from hematology analyzer wastewater. The study showed that the type of activated carbon and the adsorbent dosage had the greatest influence on the removal efficiency. The obtained results provide a useful basis for further research and optimization of adsorption processes for the treatment of laboratory wastewater.
