Abstract:V magistrskem delu je predstavljena raziskava vsebnosti izbranih elementov v različnih negovalnih izdelkih. Izvedli smo delno validacijo analizne metode ICP MS, pri kateri smo določali mejo zaznavnosti, mejo določljivosti, linearno koncentracijsko območje, točnost in natančnost. S statistično analizo smo primerjali vsebnosti As, Cr in Ni v negovalnih izdelkih nizkega, srednjega in visokega cenovnega razreda. Statistične razlike pri vsebnostih As in Ni nismo ugotovili.

Title:Determination of heavy metals in care products
Abstract:This master’s thesis presents a study of the content of selected elements in various personal care products. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used to determine the content of Al, As, Ba, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Ga, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sr, Sn, Ti, Tl, and Zn in face, hand, and body creams, facial serums, facial cleansing products, and sunscreens. Samples for elemental analysis were prepared by closed-vessel microwave assisted acid digestion using a mixture of HNO3, HCl, and H2O2. A partial validation of the ICP-MS method was performed by determining the limit of detection, limit of quantification, linear concentration range, accuracy, and precision. When comparing the results to the limit values set by international regulations, we found that the limit value for As (2 μg/g) was exceeded in one personal care product, i.e. in a face cream (KO9) with 3.50 ± 2.86 μg/g. In two facial cleansing products (ČO7 with 16.75 ± 1.09 μg/g and ČO8 with 16.08 ± 0.02 μg/g) and one face cream (KO1 with 11.10 ± 0.33 μg/g) the limit value of 10 μg/g for Ni was also exceeded. The limit values for other heavy metals were not exceeded in any sample. We used statistical analysis to compare the content of As, Cr, and Ni in personal care products in the low-, medium-, and high-price ranges. We found no statistical differences for As and Ni content. Statistical difference was observed in the Cr content between low- and medium-priced personal care products, as well as between low- and high-priced personal care products. Al packaging did not affect the Al content, as no statistical differences were observed between the Al content in personal care products from Al packaging and those in other types of packaging.
