Abstract:Razvoj YouTuba je doprinesel k širjenju prostora, kjer ustvarjalci oblikujejo vsebino in indirektno vzpostavljajo odnose z ostalimi uporabniki. Rezultati nadalje pokažejo kompleksnejšo montažo vlogov in bolj strukturirane vsebine v kasnejšem obdobju. Do leta 2019 YouTuberka uporablja manj raznolike kadre in ožji nabor grafičnih kot zvočnih elementov. Kasneje se ti postprodukcijski elementi razširijo, skupaj z bolj odprto komunikacijo in stikom YouTuberke z gledalci v komentarjih. Komunikacija se od deljenja vsakodnevnih aktivnosti v začetnem obdobju pomakne k izpostavljanju ranljivejših osebnih tem v kasnejšem obdobju. Youtuberka svoje gledalce redno poziva k interakciji, njihovi komentarji so skozi celotno obdobje pretežno pozitivni. Zbrani rezultati in longitudinalni pristop omogočajo razumevanje razvoja ustvarjanja YouTuberke skozi daljše časovno obdobje, ki jih raziskave, osredotočene na eno obdobje, težje zajamejo.

Title:Production, communication and audience interaction on a Youtube channel: The case of Niki Demar
Abstract:The development of YouTube has contributed to the expansion of a environment where creators produce content and indirectly build relationships with other users. This thesis examines the development of digital media—specifically the YouTube platform—the characteristics of content creation on that platform, and concepts such as participatory culture and parasocial relationships. The purpose of the research was to examine how the production, communication, and interaction practices of YouTuber Niki Demar have changed over a longer period of time. The research was conducted based on 24 videos, analyzed using a coding scheme. The results further show a more complex editing of clips and more structured content in the later period. By 2019, the YouTuber was using less varied shots and a narrower range of both visual and audio elements. Later, these post-production elements expanded alongside more open communication and the YouTuber’s interaction with viewers in the comments. Communication shifted from sharing daily activities in the early period to addressing more vulnerable personal topics in the later period. The YouTuber regularly encourages her viewers to interact, and their comments remain predominantly positive throughout the entire period. The collected results and the longitudinal approach allow for an understanding of the evolution of the YouTuber’s content creation over a longer period of time, which is more difficult to capture in studies focused on a single period.
