Abstract:Tema pričujočega magistrskega dela so povezave kartuzije Žiče, najstarejše kartuzije v Sloveniji in srednji Evropi, s štajerskimi plemiškimi rodbinami.

Title:The Connections of the Žiče Charterhouse with Styrian Noble Families in the Middle Ages
Abstract:The Topic of this Master's Thesis is the connections between the oldest charterhouse in Slovenia and in Central Europe, Žiče, and the Styrian noble families. Among these connections, the most important are those between the Žiče Charterhouse and its founders, the Traungau Lords. Other Styrian Noble Families important to the Žiče Charterhouse are the Lords of Ptuj, the Lords of Žovnek (later called the Counts of Celje) and the Lords of Slovenske Konjice and Rogatec. Other noble families connected to Žiče Charterhouse are mentioned only in passing. The four most important families are briefly presented in the thesis. Afterwards, the connections between the noble families and the Žiče Charterhouse are then presented in greater detail through various documents, such as deeds of donation, decrees, purchase-and-sale contracts, and charters recording property exchanges. Additionally, a chapter on the connections between the Žiče Carthusian monastery and various castles has been added. The thesis is based on archival documents, published documents, scholarly monographs and articles, and online resources. The published sources and secondary literature used in the thesis are works by Slovenian authors. A scholarly article by an author from the German-speaking area is also used. The Thesis is limited to the Middle Ages and focuses exclusively on the Carthusian monastery of Žiče and on noble families from the area of Styria. The work is written as a compilation (a set of works by various authors) and a comparison (comparisons of records by various authors).
