Abstract:Produktivnost dela predstavlja pomemben kazalnik gospodarske uspešnosti, saj prikazuje učinkovitost uporabe dela pri ustvarjanju proizvodov in storitev. Preverjene so bile temeljne predpostavke metode najmanjših kvadratov, in sicer normalna porazdelitev ostankov, multikolinearnost, heteroskedastičnost in avtokorelacija. Zaradi prisotnosti avtokorelacije smo izračunali standardne napake ocen regresijskih koeficientov s HAC metodo. Rezultati analize potrjujejo statistično značilen vpliv izbranih dejavnikov na produktivnost dela v obeh proučevanih državah. Ocenjena modela sta ustrezno specificirana, preverjanje predpostavk metode najmanjših kvadratov pa potrjuje zanesljivost ocenjenih rezultatov in njihovo primernost za nadaljnjo interpretacijo.

Title:An empirical analysis of labor productivity determinants in Denmark and Finland
Abstract:Labor productivity represents an important indicator of economic performance, as it reflects the efficiency of labor utilization in the production of goods and services. Its growth enables an increase in economic growth, enhances the competitiveness of the economy, and contributes to an improved standard of living for the population. Labor productivity is influenced by numerous economic, technological, and demographic factors, among which investments, human capital, and changes in the age structure of the population play an important role. This thesis examines labor productivity in Denmark and Finland and investigates the factors influencing its development during the period from 1995 to 2023. The theoretical part presents various approaches to understanding productivity and discusses the importance of different factors in shaping its development. This is followed by a presentation of the general economic situation in Denmark and Finland, as well as the development of labor productivity in both economies. The central part of the thesis consists of an empirical analysis of the labor productivity function, in which labor productivity is defined as the dependent variable, while gross fixed capital formation, life expectancy, and the old-age dependency ratio are included as explanatory variables. To estimate the impact of the selected factors, econometric models for Denmark and Finland were developed, with the parameters estimated using the ordinary least squares (OLS) method. First, the appropriate specification of the models and the possible presence of structural changes were examined. The fundamental assumptions of the ordinary least squares method were tested, namely the normal distribution of residuals, multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity, and autocorrelation. Due to the presence of autocorrelation, the standard errors of the estimated regression coefficients were calculated using the HAC method. The results of the analysis confirm the statistically significant impact of the selected factors on labor productivity in both examined countries. The estimated models are appropriately specified, while the verification of the assumptions of the ordinary least squares method confirms the reliability of the estimated results and their suitability for further interpretation.
