Abstract:Stres je tesno povezan z našim vsakdanjim življenjem in delom.

Title:STRESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS
Abstract:Stress is an integrated part of our lives and work, it even modifies them. The fact is that every work can be stressful from time to time and the work of primary school teacher is no exception. In the diploma paper we tackle stress in teachers' professional development in either urban or rural environment. In the theoretical part we describe teacher's profession and define the term stress with its symptoms, types, phases and effects of stress situations on teacher's work. We make a conclusion of this part by giving detailed instructions for facing stress and managing it daily. In the empirical part we establish the occurrence of stress with primary school teachers in north-eastern Slovenia. We focus on possible deviations in stress occurrence caused by different school environments and length of working period. The results show that teachers face stress at their work places and notice its physical and psychological symptoms. Mentioned stress factors are everyday work with pupils and relations with school authorities, colleagues and parents. However, there are no significant deviations noted caused to working period and school environment. We also discovered that teachers are well equipped with stress managing strategies, especially the ones from urban environment.
