Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo obravnavali neposredne tuje investicije, kot vstopno strategijo na makedonski trg.

Title:FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT AS ENTRY STRATEGY ON MACEDONIAN MARKET
Abstract:In this work we have described foreign direct investment, as one of the most important instruments, through which a national economy can encourage production, know-how imports, increase employment and infrastructure development, as well as decrease poverty. The paper focuses particularly on the Macedonian market. First, we gave a theoretical explanation about different forms of market entry strategy, which one company can decide to implement within the control of a chosen marketing mix. Then, predominant attention is given to direct investment, as possible mode of foreign market entry, and we realized, that these investments were scarce in the beginning of the transitional period of Macedonian economy. In the main part of the work, we described the impact of foreign direct investments on employment (as key macroeconomic problem of the economy), and on economic development. The Macedonian Government recognizes, the importance of attracting 47 foreign investors related to their management and commercial know-how, as well as the fresh capital they bring. That is why it aims to encourage potential investors to forget the problems from the past, and takes measures by investing in education of the youth , whose empowerment will make the business surrounding more professional, and easier to access. In the final part, we have presented concrete examples of foreign investments in the state, and we have described the main problems, which the investors used to have. Moreover, a description is given on what were the motives to invest in the state. We focused on the Slovenian investments in the Macedonian economy, and we found out, that Slovenian capital is strongly present in Macedonia, by range, and as well by number of investments in different branches of the economy. Among the most important reasons, why Macedonia is interesting country for Slovenian investors are: geographical and historical circumstances, including the geographical vicinity for Slovenia, good knowledge of market and language, traditionally good relations with established business contacts from the past, and recognition of some of the Slovenian brands. The good knowledge about the Macedonian economy, business habits and traditions, is exactly what makes Slovenian investments to offset against other foreign direct investments in the country.
