Title:MANAGING A RETAIL SHOP
Abstract:Managing a retail shop includes processes of procuring, receiving and preparing goods for sale, ensuring good quality of goods, well-regulated shop shelves, informing buyers and sale - charging the buyer for the goods and after-sale services. For operational performance it is important to monitor buyers' satisfaction, employees’ satisfaction, research findings about mysterious buyers and it is also important to manage stocks economically and optimize costs incurred in the process from purchasing goods to selling them to a final buyer. In the thesis different opinions of authors who are experts in operating in a commercial branch are intertwined, but the major part of the thesis is based on my own findings, so on my personal working experiences. Therefore in this part I focus on studying the market program - sale of food, which also covers the major part of business operations of Mercator d.d. company. To be a successful retail unit in an area of retail trading it is important to constantly monitor business operations and adjust to any market situation. All the levels of the company's management monitor the performance of a retail unit. The company operates in accordance with the valid legislation, with the given standards of business operations, internal laws and business ethics. All the employees at Mercator d.d. strive towards accomplishing the »Mercator, najboljši sosed!« slogan. Meeting the buyer's needs and expectations, professional approach to monitoring a retail shop performance and openness to introducing innovations to the marketplace are our primary business objectives and are essential for a competitiveness in the market, especially in the time of recession when it is more difficult to achieve success.
