V raziskavi smo uporabljali prenosni UZ aparat NanoMaxx proizvajalca SonoSite in endoskopski UZ aparat proizvajalca Olympus EU-M20. Ustreznost modelov smo pokazali z materiali želatine, vode, agarja in gel-voska.

Title:Modeling of phantoms for ultrasound device evaluation and their application in simulations
Abstract:This thesis focuses on modelling phantoms, which could serve as a tool for testing and evaluation of ultrasound (US) devices and for simulation of US-guided peripheral intravenous access. The purpose of this thesis was to find inexpensive materials, whose echogenicity would correspond to actual ultrasound images. From various materials we built phantoms that enable the passage of sound and that have properties similar to real human tissue. We focused on testing and evaluating the functionality of classic and endoscopic US devices. In our research, we used the portable ultrasound device NanoMaxx by Sonosite and the endoscopic ultrasound device by Olympus EU-M20. We tested the adequacy of models made of gelatine, water, agar and gel wax. For simulation of anatomical structures within the models, we used natural and artificial materials and their ultrasound qualities are described in detail in the thesis. Modelling results have shown that models correspond to actual ultrasound images and that they are an adequate tool for learning through simulation. The main weakness of our models is their durability, as they tend to degrade with the course of time. The models can be used for acquiring skills in inserting US-guided cannulas into veins and for testing the performance of US devices.
