Title:COMPARISON OF TWO DIFFERENT ALPINE SKIING TEACHING METHODS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis was to determine the difference in the acquisition of skiing skills and in the motivation for skiing, between children, aged from 4 to 7 years, who attended a traditional ski-training course and those who were learning to ski at the children's ski-training track. The research was conducted using an experimental method of empirical educational research. On the basis of theoretical facts and personal experience gained from skiing lessons with young children, I have observed and evaluated the acquired skiing skills. I found out that the group who learned to ski at the ski-training track mastered the basics of skiing better than the one who have practiced the traditional mode of exercise. Furthermore, there was no difference in the motivation of children attending either of the two courses (at the children's ski-training track or traditional ski training), hence the fact that all children were extremely interested and motivated to learn skiing. There was some difference in the use of ski lifts, as the children who attended the course at the training track have learned to use the ski lift independently, whereas children who have practiced the traditional mode of exercise didn’t. However, both groups confirmed their desire to attend further ski courses, which means that all children (regardless of the type of ski course) enjoyed the ski lessons, and wish to upgrade their skiing skills.
