Abstract:Transportna podjetja se onesnaževanja okolja zavedajo. Večina podjetij želi pokazati svojo ekološko naravnanost z nakupom in uporabo ekološko sprejemljivejših vozil.

Title:TRANSPORT OF GOODS BY ROAD AND ENVIRONMENTAL CARE
Abstract:Transport companies are aware of environmental pollution. Most companies are more environmentally oriented when purchasing and using environmentally more acceptable vehicles. Some also use alternative fuels in smaller quantities. But the use of alternative fuels is not very widespread because of some detrimental effects they have on the cargo vehicles and because of the significant changes to the vehicles that are required for their use. The most stimulating for transport companies are various financial benefits of vehicles with higher EURO standards and lower fuel consumption. However, not enough companies are aware that ecological practices can affect the public image of the company. The most important findings of my research of domestic and foreign transport companies are: - Transport companies with large fleets take better care of the environment than smaller companies. - In most cases, companies decide on more ecological practices not because of legislation, but because of financial incentives. - The shifting of transport companies to increased use of alternative fuels is a lengthy process. Above all, there is a need for further expansion of the providers’ infrastructure. - The transport of cargo by road is constantly increasing. Therefore the sustainable development of the European transport policy endeavours to control the external effects of transport systems.
Keywords:sustainable development and transport, environmental pollution, alternative fuels, Kyoto Protocol, effects of pollution in transport.
