Title:DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SEXES IN THE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS
Abstract:The main theme of the thesis focuses on the differences between men and women in managerial positions. We hypothesized that gender differences can be divided into biological, social, psychological, cultural and intercultural differences between the sexes. In this empirical study we attempted to further analyze this, but many factors are intertwined with each other, which could also relate the individual chapter with other factors. We also presented the current status of female managers in Slovenia and Greece, including the factors and consequences that cause and inflict the gender gap in managerial positions. We have conducted a survey into many Greek and Slovenian companies, and among students of organizational science who represent future managers. By using the SPSS program for statistical analysis, we confirm the hypothesis that the female manager more commonly agree with the promotion of equal opportunities between women and men in managerial positions. More female managers recognize the continuing problem of gender stereotypes in today's society. We also confirm the hypothesis that female and male managers perceive their respective attitudes to gender in different ways. The hypothesis that women rarely decide to perform managerial roles, due to cultural influences, were rejected. The hypothesis that women in their working environment are still treated differently than men - and the hypothesis that in Slovenia there is a greater proportion of women in managerial positions than in Greece - were not conclusively confirmed.
