Abstract:Magistrsko delo predstavi pregled pojmovanja in poimenovanja pojma strokovni jezik in različne pristope k funkcijskozvrstni delitvi besedil, s poudarkom na strukturalističnem pristopu razvrstitve strokovnih besedil v slovenskem in hrvaškem jeziku.

Title:Characteristic of Worformation in Scientific Text in the Area of Zoology (in the Case of Monography Animals in Slovenia)
Abstract:The master's thesis presents a reveiw of concepts and terminology of the concept of professional language and different approaches to functional-genre division of texts, the emphasis being on the structuralist approach to the classification of professional texts in the Slovene and Croatian language. In terms of the linguistic features of the different subgenres of technical language, special attention is paid to lexical features of professional texts, especially the characteristics of terminological lexicon. Based on the theoretical starting points of linguistic characteristics of subgenres of technical language, especially the lexical features of technical texts, hypotheses of word formation structure of terminology and non-terminology lexicon were developed, whereby the lexicon depends on the professional field and the specific genre of the text. The analysis of the collected material written from a didactic type of popular science text in the field of zoology has shown that: - the derivational structure of terminological lexicon is affected by terminology principles as well as the viability of the profession which provides the dominant types of derivation, and the object of study, which determines the derivational-semantic structure of terms; - it is possible to speak of at least two types of terminology: (1) terminologies which are consistent and closed within a narrow range of users (e.g. zoology), therefore they are still subject to clear semantic defining and minimal variability, which leads to linguistic conservatism; (2) modern terminologies, due to the popularization of certain sciences (e.g. computer science) open to a wide range of users, therefore subject to the principle of linguistic innovation; - in addition to the demand of a professional style of writing , it is particularly the type of science that determines the selection of the dominating style process and dictates the structure of non-terminological lexicon (nominalization, passivity, abstraction).
