Title:INFLUENCE OF CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT ON EDUCATION OF EMPLOYEES
Abstract:Global competition has also forced Slovenian companies to expand their business across national borders. Several decades Slovenian companies operates in the European, Asian and American market. International business is more complex than in the home environment, business activities taking place in several different countries, which differ from each other. For successful operation of companies in the international environment it is important to consider the impact of (national) culture on the business. Employees are usually the ones who, with their openness, compassion and feelings for others, and the ability to integrate into a new environment, in addition to professional competence, determine the success on foreign soil. That is why the understanding and training in cross-cultural training are crucial for the spread of companies in foreign markets. The results of research that we conducted in Slovenian international companies from the field of cross-cultural training of expatriates , shows the need for this training, especially for the employees serving in Asian countries, whose culture is very different from that of Slovenian. However, research shows that Slovenian companies are very little aware of the need for developing intercultural competencies for expatriates and of awareness of intercultural differences. Given the special literature and successful practices of foreign international companies, we believe that the Slovenian international companies need to invest more in innovation of employees in the field of cross-cultural training, which is a prerequisite for the successful development and competitiveness of companies and employees in modern business.
Keywords:culture, cross-cultural training, expatriate, Slovene international companies.
