Abstract:V diplomskem seminarju smo proučevali, kako kultura vpliva na način poslovnega komuniciranja.

Abstract:In diploma work we have studied how culture influences on business comunication. We have focused on Arab culture and how to communicate with Arab businessmen. In international business environment we meet business people from different countries, each of them has their own culture, which regulate their behavior with a specific system of values and expectations. For successful cross-cultural business communication is necessary to know basics about interlocutor's culture. The Arab world is a complete unit, both in geographical and in cultural terms. We learned that the most important component of Arab culture is religion. Islam is the foundation of Arab culture and it extends to all spheres of business, therefore also in business communication. Culture of Arab nation has been forming for centuries and although globalization is present in this area, the cultural differences cannot be eradicated. In the last part of diploma work, we have indicated how Arab culture actually influences on business communication. We described how business meetings look like and also that Arabs are hard negotiators. We have also listed directions: that is necessary to establish a friendly relationship with Arabs, which must be based on trust; we have to dress conservatively – that applies mostly to women; which gifts are rocommended for business gifts etc.
