Keywords:disleksija, vloga učitelja, priprava gradiv, bralne strategije, zagotavljanje podpore.

Title:DYSLEXIA IN SLOVENE CLASSES
Abstract:Dyslexia is a term defining difficulty in reading and writing. It is being increasingly used in Slovenian region, and it is replacing the term »legastenija«. Dyslexia does not mean only reading and writing problems but it is a set of symptoms that affect approximately ten per cent of children who have average or above-average intelligence. Reading and writing disability go hand in hand with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), poor language awareness, chronological or place disorientation and sequence problems. Each dyslexic has a unique set of symptoms which makes the disability very difficult to trace. Disadvantages due to dyslexia on one hand, mean advantages on the other hand. Dyslexics can be gifted sportsmen, they have a vivid imagination, are creative and innovative. Some, unfortunately, never detect their talents. They are not aware of their advantages, and are not able to make use of their potentials. They have negative experiences. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to detect children with these abilities as soon as possible, and to help them cope with their disabilities and to encourage their talents.
Keywords:dyslexia, teacher`s role, preparation of materials, reading strategies, ensuring support.
