Title:OUT-OF-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVISED MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AS A SUPPLEMENT TO THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Abstract:Construction of improvised musical instruments made from waste or natural materials enables us to learn new terms and knowledge. While making and playing musical instruments, children develop manual skills, discover and learn to use new terms, techniques and knowledge. The aim of the Diploma thesis is to present out-of-school workshops on the construction and use of improvised musical instruments. The goal was to establish whether these workshops on the making of improvised musical instruments are suitable for children of the first triad. In the theoretical part, we used a descriptive method, and in the practical part, which is related to the theoretical part, we used a practical work method based on action research and project work. The sample included 10 randomly selected children aged from four to nine years. We found that workshops on the construction of musical instruments are designed so that they are suitable for children of the first triad in terms of context, methodology and organisation. The research findings show that children find improvised musical instruments interesting, for they give them the possibility to create music. The workshops are conducted in a positive atmosphere, children feel good there, and they are adequately motivated. They like to create, use and play musical instruments, connecting music with positive feelings.
