Prišli smo do zanimivih ugotovitev.

Title:PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE CONCEPTS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Abstract:Master's thesis in the first part focuses on the treatment of the concepts of sustainable development and social responsibility. Generally accepted definition of sustainable development, which was given in the Brundtland report, says that sustainable development means meeting the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of the needs of future generations. There are several other definitions, too. Sustainable development thus means that we have to behave in such a way that future generations will not bear the consequences of our actions in all areas, economic as well as ecological and social. It is also very important how enterprises report their activities, both good and bad, to the interested public. Publishing such reports is called sustained reporting and represents an extremely important means of communication with all participants. It is also important how we promote the implementation of sustainable development in economy or among people in Slovenia. That is being done by Governmental institutions such as the Council for Sustainable Development and the Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Development and Scholarships which launch for students the so called Awards for sustainable development on the one hand and non-governmental organizations, such as Umanotera and the Institute for Sustainable Development in the other hand. The concept of social responsibility is primarily to ensure that we realize that the company is not completely independent of its environment. The company is affected by external and internal factors. Social responsibility emphasizes that in addition to achieving profits in your business and cooperation with the factors it is also necessary to include ecological and social aspects in all operations. Although, the company operates in accordance with the law, must have in mind socially responsible conscience, even there where things are not regulated by the law. Corporate Social Responsibility is achieved so that the company should adopt a set of standards, such as ISO standards (14001 and 26000), EMAS scheme and other tools governing social responsibility, such as the international GRI guidelines. When it comes to the conflict of values between certain factors ethics can be helpful. Social responsibility in relation to ethics, can serve as a tool for sustainable development. In the second part of the thesis, we investigated how the inhabitants of Slovenia are aware of the concepts of sustainable development and social responsibility. We came to some interesting conclusions.
