Prašiči so šli v zakol, ko so dosegli 30, 60 in 90 kg. Ob zakolu smo odvzeli vzorce dvanajstnika, teščega in vitega črevesa. Razredčene vzorce črevesne vsebine smo nanašali na gojišča, namenjena rasti posameznim rodovom bakterij: Skupnemu številu bakterij (PCA), laktobacilom (MRS), bifidobakterijam (MRS z dodatkom cisteina), enterobakterijam (VRBG) in koliformnim bakterijam (ECC).

Title:Effect of tannin supplementation on faecal microflora in growing pigs
Abstract:From April to August 2012 a study with tannin additives in pig feed was conducted, in order to determine the effect of tannin in the diet of pigs on their intestinal microflora. The experiment was carried out at Pig Research Centre (Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, University of Maribor). A total of 100 pigs were divided in five different groups (T1 = control, T2 = 0.5 g/kg and T3 = 1 g/kg feed mixture of modified chesnut tannin, T4 = 2 g/kg feed mixture of chesnut tannin; T5 = 2 g/kg feed mixture of oak tannin). Pigs were slaughtered at the weight of 30, 60 and 90 kg. Small intestine was divided on three parts: duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. Samples of diluted intestinal content were applied on different mediums on which we can grow different genuses of bacteria: the total bacteria count (PCA), Lactobacillus (MRS), Bifidobacterium (MRS with cystine), E. coli (ECC) and Enterobacteriaceae (VRBG). After the incubation period the amount of grown bacteria colonies were estimated. The results have shown that the greatest antibacterial activity had tannin at 60 kg of body weight in groups T3 in T4. Samples of those two groups have demonstrated the lower amount of bacteria, compared to T1, T2 and T5. The total bacteria count in group T3 decreased for 27 % and in T4 for 33 % compared to T1, and the amount of Bifidobacterium for 24 % and 38 %. The amount of E. coli has decreased for 21 % and 19 %, and the number of Enterobacteriaceae has decreased for 28 % (T3) and 36 % (T4) compared to T1. The consistency of the faeces was better in groups T3 and T4 in comparison to the other groups. This data also shows the positive effect of tannin in pig diet on intestinal microbiota.
