Abstract:Pri pisanju magistrskega dela z naslovom Slovenske basni smo izbirali relavantne metode dela, ki so bile najbolj smiselne glede na posamezen sklop raziskovanja in pisanja. Izpostavili smo štiri svetovne zbiratelje in basnopisce, to so Ezop, Gaj Julij Fedrus, Jean de La Fontaine in Ivan Andrejevič Krilov, ter enaindvajset slovenskih zbirateljev in basnopiscev. Med slednjimi smo analizirali štirinajst avtorskih zbirk naslednjih avtorjev: Valentina Vodnika, Antona Martina Slomška, Janeza Trdine, Frana Levstika, Matije Valjavca, Josipa Stritarja, Dragotina Ketteja, Vladimirja Pavšiča − Mateja Bora, Borisa Fakina − Igorja Torkarja, Rada Bordona, Miroslava Košute, Slavka Pregla, Aca Mermolja ter Otona Marca. V tretjem delu smo analizirali slovenske folklorne basni.

Title:Slovenian fables
Abstract:While writing the master’s degree with the title Slovenian fables we choose the research methods which were the most appropriate for the individual part of the research and writing. Master’s degree consisted of three parts. In the first part of the study we summarized the guidelines of the definitions and the characteristics of this short literary form, as they were written by the Slovenian and foreign theoreticians, as well as the presentation of the similar literary forms. Exactly because of that we have to be careful when classifying the short didactic story, since its basic characteristic is to describe in a taunting way the human mistakes and relationships among them with a help of standard anthropomorphic animal characters. With a help of a dialogue, which shouldn’t be understood literary, they demonstrated the life truths. In the second part we introduced the historical overview of the fable’s development from its supposed beginnings and up until today. We exposed four world famous collectors and writers of fables, which are Aesop, Gaius Julius Phaedrus, Jean de La Fontaine and Ivan Andreyevich Krylov, as well as twenty-one Slovenian collectors and writers of fables. Among the latter we analysed fourteen authorial collections of the following authors: Valentin Vodnik, Anton Martin Slomšek, Janez Trdina, Fran Levstik, Matija Valjavec, Josip Stritar, Dragotin Kette, Vladimir Pavšič − Matej Bor, Boris Fakin − Igor Torkar, Rado Bordon, Miroslav Košuta, Slavko Pregl, Aco Mermolja and Oton Marc. In the third part of the master’s degree we analysed the Slovenian folklore fables. According to the results of the analysis we can say that the Slovenian folklore as well as the authorial fables follow the scheme. They use the autochthonous and non- autochthonous animal types. Of course, the latter appear less often. The meaning of the fable is in its instructiveness. The reader can transmit its moral to everyday life and thus avoid the unpleasant situations. However, both − the folklore and artificial fable are even today used as disguised manners of criticising the society or an individual. We followed an example of the literary theory where the terms authorial and artificial fable are used as synonyms.
Keywords:folklore fable, artificial fable, collectors of fables, writers of fables, analysis of a fable
