Abstract:Kibernetsko ustrahovanje ni nov problem.

Title:Cyberbullying: The Sociopsychological Approach
Abstract:Cyberbullying is not a new problem and although it can lead to serious consequences, many are still not familiar with this phonomenon. This means that most of individuals exposed to cyberbullying will not be able to properly attend to and deal with the phenomenon. Even those individual responsible for spreading the knowledge about cyberbullying and informing others how to deal with it (parents, teachers, social workers, etc.) underestimate the seriousness of cyberbullying. This leads to their's inability to adequately inform others about coping mechanisms on a wider social level. Regardles of the abstract nature of cyberbullying, consequences for the victims, can be serious and real. When compared to the real world, in cyberspace a perpetrator, as well as a victim, can be anybody. That includes the adults, who may in the real world present some sort of authority to the perpetrator. Not only does cyberspace provide wider audience, it also enables greater level of anonimity, less control, the inability to observe victim’s reaction and impairs physical violence. In addition, accessibility of an individual in the digital age is significantly greater if not permanent. With this in mind, one can say that in cyberspace, dynamics of the real-world relationships can significantly reshape and transform, which is why cyberbullying itself, along with the gravity of the consequences, can escalate much faster than the forms of face-to-face bullying do. It is obvious that cyberbullying deserves more attention. Every part of society should take part in controlling and confronting the cyberbullying. Nonetheless, cyberbullying is not a problem of an individual, but of society as a whole. Through literature review, empirical survey and completed interviews, our findings show that awareness of and/ or familiarity with cyberbullying among Slovenian Facebook users is poor and that not every agency is eager in contributing to solving the problem of cyberbullying. Also, we ascertained that the gravity of the consequences depend on victims 's own perception of the seriousness of cyberbullying. Last but not least we established that mass media reporting on cyberbullying can have negative effects on the victims.
